A few weeks ago I was majorly geeking out over receiving an autographed postcard with the Tangerine Dream cd I had ordered. Today, I am bummed after hearing that Edgar Froese (their leader) had passed away in Vienna earlier this week from a pulmonary embolism. The band came to my attention a little more than 25 years ago, with their LILY ON THE BEACH album. Somehow over the years (between remasters, soundtracks, cupdiscs, and coincidence) nearly 100 TD cds are a part of my collection. It is quite amazing that for someone this prolific, there are only about 10-12 albums that I would say are not-so-good to unlistenable... (Most of these were the result of adding vocals.) Kind of funny how much of their soundtrack music became the actual soundtrack to peoples day to day lives.
