A few weeks ago my good friend and drummer quirky tom theurer asked me to review a couple of cds. I apologize for not getting to this sooner. So as i got ready to walk on the treadmill i put the first cd in from his band Sezhu/square one. As i was stretching the first track came on. I just stopped and looked at the cd player, started to smile and said oh yea. LOL A few seconds into the first track sets up what to expect from the rest of the cd. Sezhu is real funky with a great rock edge. In more than a few of the songs some of the passages sound (if you can imagine) as if Rush is playing funk with a great female vocalist. Some of Toms fills have a Billy Cobham-esque style to them. The band has great musical communication happening throughout all the tracks. But the musical conversations that Tom and Bassist Stephen Tate have are outrageous. Great syncopated parts along with the ripping guitar styles of Andrew Finberg make this a really great work of music to listen to. Last and certainly not least Sanna Pisanos vocals are just over the top. What a voice! I am not sure if Tom has this cd online or for sale, but i would strongly suggest taking a listen to this disk. Its just really put together well and sounds great. And from a drummers point of view the drum parts Tom created are great. And I will of course have to chat with Tom and pick his brain about how he came up with these parts. Well the way i will put it is, dude how the hell did you play that? LOL Check this disk out!
