A few weeks ago we lost someone very dear to us. My best friend and extended family lost a sister and daughter after a long, hard battle with cancer. Whenever I think back to what really got me started in photography, its them. Jennifer was getting married and Alyssa, her sister, my best friend, handed me a camera and asked if Id just take some candids of the day. Sure why not. :) I also ended up doing makeup for Jennifer and Marcia, her mom. This family has always trusted me with things I didnt even know if I could do at the time. Theyre nuts ;) Anyway I shot the wedding and knew NOTHING about any camera or how to edit. Everything just accidentally came together and the lighting was beautiful and who knows what the camera settings were on but they were perfect too. The pictures turned out great, somehow. I had no idea how to edit, so I really didnt. Maybe some color boost in iphoto. I still had SO MUCH to learn but this is what really pushed me into photography. Those photos got me clients and I figured well, if people want me to photograph them Id better buy a camera! I am thankful every day for that day and where it has brought me. And just yesterday I got to photograph her daughter, our crazy Caitlin, for her senior photos. Im very thankful to have always been involved in whatever their family has going on. Jennifers wedding and makeup, family photos for her when she was sick, which you would never know it because shes so stinking beautiful, and Alyssas wedding (hair, makeup, and photography) I told you theyre nuts. ;) And now Caitlins senior photos. I love being brought into peoples lives to preserve precious memories. It really is one of the best jobs ever. Who knows if I hadnt done that wedding if I would have gotten into photography like I did. Ill always appreciate Jen and the family for that. :)
