A final word from me: Well, class of 2015, this is my final say - TopicsExpress

A final word from me: Well, class of 2015, this is my final say on why Chris and I would like your vote. Let me start off by just saying: Its not for me. Its not for us. Its for you. Trust me, there is very little in terms of recognition to gain from being class president. Sure, there is a little bit, but it is far outweighed by the work that needs to be done, and even more by the compensation we get in return- which is none. That being said, the reasons for my desire to serve you (because thats what this job really is, serving you) are not selfish in nature. In fact, it is more of a show of thanks. Thanks to you, my fellow seniors, the most important people to me, and thanks to our families, friends, neighbors, teachers, administrators, staff, business owners, and community leaders, we have all made it this far. Because of the acts of kindness, compassion, and selflessness towards all of us throughout all these years, we have been inspired; inspired to keep fighting the going gets tough. Me running is payment back for that inspiration, because it is priceless. The pride instilled in me to care for the group of people that has so inspired me has sparked in me a drive to give back to us all. After all weve been through and all weve done, we deserve the best of it all. We deserve great fundraisers, we deserve a great dinner dance, we deserve a great senior trip, we deserve a great graduation, and we deserve success and happiness in the years beyond high school. We deserve not to be forgotten, and we deserve not to be a dud class. As I said in the speech Friday, which I poured my heart and soul into, this is a journey that has been 13 years in the making. Do we want one year, under the direction of an opponent with different objectives, to change the course of our class for the worse? Do we want to have one dud year that makes us a dud class? We all need to realize that this decision is a momentous one; the class president this year stays with the Chittenango Class of 2015 forever. For the rest of our lives. Wherever we go, whatever we do, and whenever, if ever, we come back. Do you want someone who will always be here, ready to listen and ready for action, now and later? Or someone who may not be there at all? Sure, this whole thing is a campaign status for Chris and I. Sure, I want you to vote for us. But its not about you voting for us. Its why I want you to vote for us. I want you to vote for us because, if given the chance, Id vote for all of you, a thousand times over. Our combined knowledge, experience, passion, and communication from the class can help us make things happen, big time. And I want you to help us. In fact, you can all help us very easily, because the first step in helping all of us as a class is a single tap on an iPad. Youve always given your best to me, and well always give our best to you. Its as simple as that; no political gimmicks or fake promises, and its not something you can guarantee with the opponent, either. The bottom line is, Chris and I want to invest whole-heartedly in you, and give you a senior year (and beyond) thats fun and memorable. However, we cant do that unless you invest one vote in us. So finally, with the utmost gratitude, respect, and thanks to all of you, I would like you all to think seriously about the choice you are faced with tomorrow. There are no guessing games; I know we can do it if we put our minds to it. Who can? (You dont have to answer this time...we already know :) ). Thanks and Good Luck, from the Bottom of my Heart, Tyler Sternberg President of the Class of 2015
