A five year old German shepherd name Moti, came to his owner’s rescue during gunfire. Some dogs would shy away from gunshots, but Moti didn’t cower down. He sprung into action to save the lives of his family. It was late one Friday night in the town of Florence, Pennsylvania. Harshad and Mital Patel owned a small shop in town. The Patels, their two daughters, and their German Sheppard were at the shop that evening. It was like any other evening. Many costumers had visited that day. The darkness filled the street outside, and that is when a masked gunman made his appearance in the Patels shop. All 114 pounds of Moti lunged over the counter, and started barking at the masked gunman. The robber was stunned by the appearance of the dog. Moti had not been in the gunman’s sight when he approached the counter. The German Sheppard did not like the tone of the robber’s voice, or the fear that his owners were expressing. Moti made a quick appearance because of this. The gunman realized Moti had met business, so he took the cowardly way out. He pointed the gun at Moti and shot, while fleeing the store. The Patels realized that their German Sheppard had been shot, and they rushed him to the veterinarian. The vet took an x-ray, which showed that the bullet had gone through Moti’s neck. It missed his throat, but landed on his shoulder. Moti was rushed into emergency surgery to try to recover the bullet, but the vet was unable to retrieve it. The bullet still remains lodged in Moti’s shoulder. If Moti had not been so quick to scare the robber off, this could have been a very different story. The Patels realized what an amazing and heroic dog Moti was. The masked gunman is still at large, but Moti has received special treatment from his family for his heroic deeds. Good meal, good steak. He gets everything good now. More than he needs! said Harshad. Moti goes to the shop with the Patels daily, and takes his job very seriously.
