A fixture of the community I grew up in has passed. I am a few days late but I will say a thing or two anyway. As a kid we grew up making fun of Dit Dat and would laugh and joke how he could beat us to Chestertown on foot and we would be in our car. We would always see him walking and smiling as he did it. My mother would stop and offer him a ride and he would simply say no I prefer to walk. Arthur Stansbury was his real name most only knew him as Dit Dat. Over the years people have realized he wasnt just a guy who liked to walk but a man with a big heart and plenty of personality. One whos childhood wasnt necessarily one of picket fences and a great family environment. In fact most of us heard the tale of the kid called Dit Dat. None the less he was full of life and full of energy. While the reports say he was walking in the road, a man that has walked route 213 for over 30 years doesnt just start walking in the road. Thats another conversation in itself. A great guy has been taken from the community. In closing when you think life has gotten the best of you and the deck is stacked against you remember Dit Dat and keep on walking with a smile. R.I.P. Arthur Stansbury AKA Dit Dat.
