A folk artist in Chinas Hubei Province has earned the appreciation of art collectors for his unique series of decorated egg shells. Dong Baoguo produces brightly-colored and complex works of art by decorating egg shells. Many of his creations are also functional since they work as music or jewelry boxes, or even as toys. Dong has created over ten-thousand egg shell artworks. At least one-thousand of them have been sold in Europe and many more bought by domestic collectors. The artist has been keen on Chinese painting and sculpture since childhood. Due to a severe illness, he lost one of his legs in 2000 and has devoted himself to producing artworks on egg shells ever since.
