A former Bradford resident, Terry Sweeney was in town this past - TopicsExpress

A former Bradford resident, Terry Sweeney was in town this past weekend, doing some family history research. Before he left, he donated three photographs to the Landmark. And they are wonderful! Which just proves my point that there are still hundreds of great old photographs of Bradford still out there, waiting to be uncovered in someones attic. These photographs show the old post office on East Corydon Street under construction. It was finally dedicated on Feb. 18, 1913. The first one is taken on East Corydon Street - St. Bernards Catholic church is to the immediate left, although it cant be seen in the particular photograph. That large white building on the right hand side is on the corner of Chestnut and East Corydon, and it where Suppas old store used to be. This photo is dated April 1911. The second photo shows the post office nearly completed, taken in December 1912. This is from Chestnut street, and you can see the Catholic Church behind it. Across the street is the fire station, and several old buildings, one of which was John Leys machine shop. John Ley was quite the philanthropist, and owned the house directly at the top of Bushnell Street, now an apartment house owned by Todd Hennard. History has a way on intertwining, doesnt it?
