A former Ogun State Governor, Chief Gbenga Daniel, has declared - TopicsExpress

A former Ogun State Governor, Chief Gbenga Daniel, has declared that he is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as was been speculated. According to him, Let me correct this speculation that I am in the PDP. I am not in the PDP, I am a member of the Labour Party, I am a member of yesterdays PDP, but now I am in the LP and LP is the way forward. Daniel who spoke at the LP meeting held at the Ayetoro area of Ogun State disclosed that he remained a genuine member of Labour Party. He said, if the PDP, in the state is interested in discussions with the LP they would be welcomed, declaring that the LP has become a household name, relevant in the politics of the state. He noted that by September, the party would commence ward to ward tour with the aim of sensitising the citizens and residents of the state on the laudable programmes prepared for them by the LP. However, the LP State Chairman, Mr. Niyi Osoba said it is common knowledge that the Leader of our Party, Gbenga Daniel, is also the main builder of the PDP in the state with the cooperation of other Leaders. It is on record that the PDP carried out aggressive grassroots campaign in all the 236 wards in Ogun State in 2002/3 and was elevated to an election winning machinery. The party won all elections in 2003 and 2007 until the intra-party crisis of 2009 which consequently weakened the election winning machinery. The rest, as they say, is history.
