A friend Josiah Biggs reposted my repost from some time ago- I added the story and added it here too I remember i went to a book signing for Lance Armstrong.... yeah i know... We were house sitting and baby sitting for a family in Highland Park, and they were on the list for personal invite- something or other and they wanted their son to meet him. I was in line with a couple cyclist junkies around me who knew Lances career and race stats, I added to the conversation knowledge of his bike frame materials and components..... A lady in front of us- looking like she should be in the short running prime time tv show GCB- teeth so white and huge it was good there was no black light around, lip injections....other obvious augmentations..... turns to us and interrupts one of the guys mid-sentence, i know nothing about his career or about his story- i just think hes an incredible person. We all paused, saw the glass of white wine dangling from her index and middle finger in kind of a cirque du soleil balancing trick- they were giving out wine to make the waiting in line a little more bearable for the ppl not used to ever having to wait in line. Wine can be funny- it can make you be more of the real you. Im trying to process in my head at 100mph where this type of social presentation is the norm- response from our group.... just silence- like crickets in the background silence. Thats what came to my mind when I read this article. I borrowed this from Jason Ingalls sometime back
