A friend asked me who inspired my love of art and of aviation. Fortunately, I have two nice vintage photos that answer both questions. I was blessed to be born into a truly wonderful family and I owe an incredible debt of gratitude to my outstanding parents for the many life lessons and limitless encouragement that they gave to me, and to my big brother Bob and little sister Mary. My Mom was a real life June Cleaver and was always there to support me in whatever I chose to do. She was an exceptionally talented and creative individual and Im happy to have a number of her artistic creations today. My Dad was also quite an artist and he served in World War II on a B-29 crew. After the war, he maintained his military service in the Reserves and he eventually retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He never pushed his enthusiasm for aviation or the military on any of us but he was always eager to nurture any interests that we had. It was inevitable that Id look up to him and want to follow in his footsteps. Sooooooo, thank you Shirley Corlett and Robert Sferra for falling in love in college after the war, and for bringing me into such an amazing family. I have some very dear friends who werent nearly so fortunate and I never take the gift for granted!
