A friend of mine asked me about Thom Tillis. I paused for a minute and told him as the Head of two major conservative organizations in North Carolina (AFP-NC 2006-2013) and currently Carolina Rising. I worked closely with Speaker Tillis. There were some bills I liked some I wished were a little different. As an advocate I had a few different ideas on tax relief and reform. With that said Speaker Tillis has lead a Conservative revolution and I will personally be thrilled to pull the lever for him. While the other candidates in the primary were nice folks, they had no record results like Speaker Tillis. Remember: over 4 years, Speaker Tillis helped pass the largest tax relief package in State History, moved our business ranking from among the worst to the best, oversaw the largest expansion of school choice any state has recently seen with removal of the cap on the number of and enrollment in Public Charter Schools, passed voter ID and election reform, carefully oversaw republican lead redistricting efforts that was pre-cleared by the Obama Justice department but still lead to massive republican victories. While Tillis is a business conservative he presided over sessions and allowed significant family legislation to move forward including the Marriage amendment, (which he and Senator Berger continue to fight for after Roy Cooper Quit. He brokered a deal and got a significant roll back or repeal (depends on your perspective) of Common Core. He repealed forced annexation and passed medical practice reform. He passed a significant change to unemployment benefits meant to keep employer taxes from up and force people back into the work force to take any job they could. Cutting IU benefits was tough but but has worked as North Carolina
