A friend of mine has got almost everything in this world. A 5 - TopicsExpress

A friend of mine has got almost everything in this world. A 5 bedroomed dream home, grade cows, rental houses which brings in a tidy return and the blessings of global children, a medical doctor in New York, a nurse in Minnesota, a lecturer in Botswana and an engineer in Australia. The only child who is in the country is a magistrate who is married in Luhya land(all this is possible as long as you invest prudently and bring up your children in the right way . He is a retired principal afterall). However, beneath the veneer of success, is a long suffering Mzee. He says at his age what he desires most is to see grandchildren. The reason he built that glamorous house with 5 bedrooms, was in anticipation of getting grandkids running all over the house and occupying those rooms. Infact he has furnished them with children beds and toys. The problem is some of his kids dont want to get hitched and have grandkids for him. The oldest son at 40yrs, the nurse at Minnesota hasnt married yet. He keeps on praying for him to get someone soon. The doctor in New York has 2 kids and when he asks her to bring them to see Africa and their grandad, she tells him Daddy, you should see this Mercedes Benz I am sending you soon! , The Mzee isnt interested in driving a Merc. His Toyota pick up which is also used in the farm to bring napier grass for his grade cows. The lad in Australia has already divorced twice in his 30s,of course he is only given visitation rights, which means there is no way he can spring those grandkids to Kenya. The Botswana young man, isnt married yet while the daughter who is a magistrate last brought her children to see sokoro, in 2007 . Its Christmas like this one in which he calls me and as we share a bottle of Jameson, he wonders loudly where he went wrong in raising his kids. To envious villagers, he is a picture of success. In the evening like this, when I bring the missus out, I also wonder whether I will suffer the same misfortunes in old age as my friend. So how do we influence our kids to learn that what we will cherish as pensioners isnt material things but grandkids?.#stolen#hahahaha....
