A friend of mine, in a post on my timeline, sums up what will - TopicsExpress

A friend of mine, in a post on my timeline, sums up what will become one of the most difficult dilemmas we will face thanks to Labor and Libs approach to retirement age! Im just so lucky I could semi-retire at 60. With 2 ageing parents to look after, even though they were in care, I could not have held down a job and given it my full attention. If Id left them just with carers all the time in their final 12 - 18 months, I could not have lived with myself. Having seen the quality of life aged people have to experience [even in good facilities] if there are no family members or loved ones to be there for them and act as their advocates, I know I made the right decision. If I had to work full time until I was 65, 67 or even 70, I dread to think what my parents final years might have been like. How does one look after an ageing parent in their 90s if one is required to work until 70 years of age?
