A friend of mine just asked for opinions about Halloween. In Australia Halloween is becoming more and more prominent as major organisations (such as Woolworths) seek to cash in. In our family last year we redeemed Halloween after I read a good article theresurgence/2011/10/31/what-christians-should-know-about-halloween I realised that I didnt want to be known as the cranky christian woman on the street - especially seeing as we get lots of trick-or-treaters and in the years to come it is likely I will have more and more to do with the kids in our community. I explained to my kids that although it is not really a holiday that makes God very happy, it does make him happy if we still try to meet people and treat people kindly through it.
