A friend of mine passed away recently. His name is Daniel Robert - TopicsExpress

A friend of mine passed away recently. His name is Daniel Robert Brashers, but we all lovingly called him Beef. He was a big beefy guy with a heart of gold and a sly sense of humor. Hed have parties and my old band MAO Inhibitor would play these parties until the cops showed up. I have a lot of fond memories of joking around with Beef. He was one of the few people who had patience with me during my quieter more introverted years....hell, he helped me to become the extrovert that I am today. It was a big shock to me to hear he had passed away. I didnt find out about it until months after he was gone. I got a call from a mutual friend Josh More a few days ago. He and Beef lived around the corner from each other and they jammed music. Beef had picked up playing the bass guitar. When he died, his family gave Josh a few of his basses. Josh came over yesterday and gave me one of those basses. I am beyond honored. Im humbled by such a gift. Thank you Josh, my friend. The bass is well taken care of, but has fret wear. It was played. It was loved. It is set up immaculately and truly performs like a great bass should. It gives me more insight into Beefs subtler character. How someone cares for their instrument says a lot about who they are. Im honored to be the owner of this bass. Im honored the universe has brought it into my possession to play it and cherish it. It is a funky funky ass thumping low end machine that I will give deep tissue massages to the sacred groove with. More so....Ill always remember my friend each and every time I look at it, each time I hold it and hang it from my shoulders, each note I play from it....and when I feel the power of the groove take over peoples spirit and gets them up and dancing, sweating, feeling free - Ill know that his spirit is also connecting with them. I shall call the bass Beef, in honor of my old friend...a fitting tribute to a man whos waters ran deep. His personality was like a good bass line...keeping time for all of the other crazies to tether our wild energies on to...keeping us from flying too close to the sun where wed melt our wings. I can hear his big laugh in my hearts memory now. I will miss you bud. You are always loved.
