A friend of mine posted about Richard Stearns of World Vision today with the prophecy of Paul and some shall depart from the faith(1 Tim 4:1) Since I am arminian I have no problem theologically with Richard and his Board members like John Crosby of Christ Presbyterian being deemed apostate - former believers who have abandoned faith - persons who have lost sight of the head and who have been cut off from the Head. Persons who have no clue who Jesus might be. Now another possibility is that as some Calvinists will prefer that they never did know Jesus. I remember hearing Bob Pierce preach with an interpreter as a boy in Japan. This is not the same World Vision of then. Stearns rather weak testimony as best as I could find on the internet was that he found Jesus but little detail was provided. He is a good executive though. Without picking on individuals like Stearns more than is needed I wonder how you folks see this kind of apostasy. Is it a case of never was saved in the first place? Still saved and prominently compromising the Christian witness OR a real live case of a believer denying the faith. What say you?
