A friend of mine was married at the end of June & I had the special privilege to design dresses for her daughter & soon to be daughter for the big day. Michelle and I met years ago, right after her son was born. It was just a quick 45 minutes of talking in my living room while I touched up her makeup for a newborn photo session that Erin McFarland Photography was doing for her. We talked about typical stuff- family life, kids, husbands, jobs, where we grew up, etc. I didnt know her well, but we had many mutual friends & she was just one of those people whom you fall in love with right away. A year later, her husband Mitch passed away in a plane crash a few miles away from our homes and she was left raising 2 small children on her own. It was devastating. All of our hearts ached. To cope with this loss, she turned to exercise and blogging, two loves that would forever change her life. Over the next several years, she transformed into One Fit Widow and helped encourage, coach and train others into making better, healthier choices through eating clean and training. Shes inspired thousands upon thousands of individuals to make positive life changes and her words have given so many hope during the dark days of the grieving process, me included. If you dont know her, or her story, you need to. Shes AMAZING! Her story doesnt stop there. As she was continuing to move forward in her life (for those of you who have lost loved ones, you know this term well), she met and fell in love with Keith, whom she lovingly refers to as her Chapter 2 (and hes seriosuly just as amazing as she is!). Trulty they are a dynamic duo, working together on One Fit Widow, raising their new family of 4 kids and completing the Bucket List of items that Mitch wanted to do in his life. Their home is filled with joy, happiness, love and so many memories. If you dont know their story, you need to because it is AMAZING! Their wedding was focused on the kids, really making it a special time for them. Being a stepmom myself, blended family weddings have a very special place in my heart. Its not just a bride and groom marrying, its a family being created! Michelle & Keith definitely blended beauty, glamour, fun and style into their wedding. It was perfectly them & wonderful for the kids. When I sat down with each of the girls, I did so individually in order to give them the freedom to design their dress the way they envisioned. The dresses, both beautiful, complimented one another, but were each separate creations, unique to each girls individuality. Michelle & Keith, thank you for letting me play such a small little part in your big day. Miss A & Miss H, it was an honor being able to custom design your dresses. Both of you looked beautiful, but the dresses only amplified the beautiful spirit that radiates from inside you. Erin McFarland, thank you for capturing the beautiful images of this special day as only you could. Congratulaitons Steinke-Baumgard Family on your Chapter 3 together as a family of 6! XOXO
