A friend recently asked me why I always go to church-why it was so - TopicsExpress

A friend recently asked me why I always go to church-why it was so important to me. He couldn’t seem to wrap his mind around why people would give up a perfectly good morning of sleep. It’s a valid question. And there are a lot of things that I could of said. I could have said that it’s just what I have always done since forever…., or that I like seeing the same friendly faces week in and week out. I could have told him that I like the style of music or the breakfast foods they sometimes serve. But deep down I know I just need to hear that epic love story. I need to take in those words of forgiveness, and to sit around the table bumping elbows with brothers and sisters who need grace just as bad as I do. I told him that I need to be confronted with a deeper reality that gives meaning and purpose to this reality- to be shown that there is more going on here than we can see, hear, and touch. In short, I guess I just need that loving, that good, good loving. Don’t you? “Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching” Hebrews 10: 19-25 Do you go to a worship service? What motivates you to go? What “story” do you need to hear?
