A function I attended at uyo, somehow turned into a debate cos a new mother could not pocket what I then termed vain pride, maybe I’m the foolish one, you be the judge. It started when her kid of seven years came in and interrupted our discussion while fiddling with the mother’s phone. The mother proudly announced, “ kid’s this days are so smart”. I was like good God! Is she plain naïve or just being a typical mother. They never know when their own kids look like baboons only other peoples kids. Maybe it’s because I have not been educated, or came from a simple family who couldn’t afford to send me to an expensive school that might win an accolade on sat mornings mothers sitcom at a friends wedding were the female version of WWE bragging rights takes place. The submission holds “my child attends the most expensive schools”. Yet this schools last I checked could not alter the human brain structure, composition, or function. And has not changed since the inception of man. I checked, the brain still consist of the cortex, right temporal/ left temporal lobe, medulla o, cerebellum etc. Do your kids have alien brain parts and matter undocumented in this realm? Despite the fees spent most of you have kids that are dusted in JAMB and WAEC by children from public schools who hawk wares on the streets in the evening to aid their parents, who never tasted ice cream, much less ride to school in an AC’d vehicle. This parents have kids who have the top 7 results counting from the bottom up in a class of 40 students. Their speciality is re-enacting R. Kellys “feeding on your booty” with their primary five classmate in the school lavatory cos they saw daddy and mummy or the househelp do it(I don’t judge, it can be fun) and the parents say “ I don’t know where he picks it from, is it not what they see on tv, “ . Really, your children’s so smart they become not only morons but undisciplined as well. If you have ever had this opinion then no wonder you are spending so much money in a school, I would recommend you enrol yourself as well and please ask the biology teacher to explain genetics, brain design and function. If you don’t get cured please try brain sugery for you and yours, preferably not in Nigeria. We treat only malaria. Non of your children will be chinua achebe, wole Soyinka, gani fawenmi, much less Einstein, von nuemann, Charles newton, with the way you spend money on paying for their exam rigging, I’d really be surprised if they even hear of those people much less be like them. Some of the smartest people I’ve met in life are from simple backgrounds, never had parents who bragged about them and carry a discipline unique to our culture. Please if your kids are only smart with the latest phones, look in the mirror.
