A funny thing happened this afternoon. Out for a ride heading north on Oxley Rd. The road dips a little just past Lynnegrove Av. A cyclist who was obviously training went past me turning a pretty big gear. The road then rises, this cyclist is then out of the saddle grinding away. I thought Pal youre in the wrong gear, Ill have you. Just cranked up the cadence, not getting out of the saddle easily caught and passed him. Next minute with gutteral noises emanating from his person and straining every fibre he passed me. The lights at Nelson St turned red. He stopped. I stopped beside him and with a sneer said So you think your good on hills ay No I replied. But Ill tell you something, you dont have to be to clever to beat a bloke in his 69th year The lights turned green and with the parting shot Well go f.... yourself old man he departed down the road like a startled gazelle. How sweet it is
