A gain cannot be considered an achievement unless it humbles you- - TopicsExpress

A gain cannot be considered an achievement unless it humbles you- and by God, Im down on my knees. I have been awarded a scholarship of $62,000 per annum for four years to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester, NY. I have also been given a Research and Innovation Grant of $3000 to pursue research on a personal passion at the university. Last year, I was the first Rootsian ever to get rejected from UBCs prestigious International Leaders of Tomorrow Award. I had 7 straight rejections from the US. And against all expectations, me- the guy who hates stagnation- was forced into a gap year. The thought of being a burden on my family by attending a good university encumbered my drive until a friend of mine convinced me to send in last years application to the University of Rochester on deadline day. Roots Admin, especially Sir Khaleeq and Maam Sara, were kind enough to process my application on the last day till 11pm! I forgot about it until someone reminded me to check my decision. I had interview calls for a merit-scholarship. I was going to decline the call because no other Pakistani had ever been accepted to UoR, since it does not offer financial aid to international students. You can be the first one!, my friend said. I went ahead with it. Little did I know, I was offered a full merit-scholarship as a Renaissance and Global Scholar on the 1st of January. Dream come true of representing Pakistan on the international stage- and that too in the honorable education sector!! Thank you for your prayers and good wishes, guys! Never stop believing! Its never simple. Life is A-MAZE-ING! You might be the next First one!. God bless Pakistan!
