A gathering of parliamentarians with concerns for the environment; MPs from 12 Asia-Pacific countries gathered in Tehran to attend the 17th general assembly meeting of the Asia pacific parliamentarian conference on environment and development also known as APPCED. The aim of the conference is to raise awareness on the importance of preserving nature and strengthening laws that deal with environmental protection. Economic development and the environmental damage done to the Gaza strip by Israel and its impact on the people’s livelihood were high on the agenda of talks. Iran’s parliament speaker Ali Larijani said that lack of proper treatment for the environment has put the life of the entire planet in danger.
