A good New Years Resolution starts with the right question: How is my heart before God? In Genesis 4, we see Cain and Abel make offerings to God. Abels is accepted and Cains is rejected. The reasoning behind the rejection of Cains was nothing to do with the offering itself, rather it was the state of Cains heart. Hebrews 11:4 states that it was by faith that Abel offered a more acceptable sacrifice. The point is this - Abel had faith in God, his walk with God was right. What you do and what you give is all in vain if it is not done from a heart that is right with God (as was the case with Cain). As Psalm 84:11 states, The Lord will uphold no good thing from those who do what is right. Worship from a sincere heart is of greater worth than gold in the eyes of God. As Romans 12:1 says, present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. What will make your worship more acceptable in the eyes of God this year? I will give you my personal resolution (2 in 1) as an example of how I intend to make my own worship more acceptable in to God - I will focus on KNOWING GOD FOR GOD (not God as he relates to my own personal situation, circumstances or agenda - God transcends all those things). And I will ENJOY THE OPPORTUNITIES AND THE BLESSINGS HE HAS GIVEN ME (instead of constantly looking for the next thing). .
