A good Word for your Sunday. Therefore if any man be in Christ, - TopicsExpress

A good Word for your Sunday. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. Yes. If saved, you do become a new person. Your Spirit is strong, but you still have that weak, fleshly heart. Paul the Apostle said, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein Romans 6:1-2? You have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you. It is reasonable to assume that Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord Romans 6:11. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses Collosians 2:13. You are saved. But the question is, How can the saved be dead to sin and still sin? Is it not hyporcisy for them to say they are saved into heaven and in the eyes of the world, still sin? Perhaps more scripture is needed. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death Romans 7:5. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not Romans 7:18. Paul was stating that even though the mind is strong, the flesh is weak. We are all fleshly creatures living in a fleshly world. Our hearts are flesh. To say you are not fleshly is a lie. It is hypocrisy. However, as a Christian, one must understand that a spiritual side of life and a physical, fleshly side of life coexist. We are to focus on the spiritual side of existence. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit John 3:6. We must not let the fleshly, physical side of existence take over our actions in this life. This is a constant battle. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness Romans 6:19. Once you understand that your focus is on God and the spiritual, you will come to realize that you only really need God and the spiritual things in this earthly life. Physical, fleshly things of the world will be less important. You find that what you possess is a blessing. You will find that you are less likely to covet. You will experience a contentedness in your life. If you know any saved people, look at the way they carry themselves. Are they worried about everything about them? Jesus Christ said, ...Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world John 8:23. Neither are saved people of this world. That is why they seem to act differently. Do they seem to want those things you normally see coveted? Are they necessarily worried about world affairs? No. They are not. They understand that scripture will unfold as God has planned it. They are focusing on God and Gods plan. However, it works the other way also with saved people. They can have their focus more on the physical things in this life. Those saved persons will not be as content as the saved people that have their focus primarily on God and the things of God. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit Romans 8:5. I seem to always see people searching for something. Searching for love. Searching for money. Searching for happiness. Searching for meaning in their lives. You name it, people are searching for it. That search is fleshly in nature. End that search by putting your trust and faith in the Word of God. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit Romans 8:2. Be one with the Spirit of God. Place your focus in life upon the Lord and discover contentment.
