A good day working at the tracksite with UFOP volunteers north of Moab. There is still time to join us! Meet tomorrow at the BLM Moab Field Office at 8:30 AM. See you then, and thanks to all for the continued help and support! Interested members of the public are invited to join the BLM and the Utah Friends of Paleontology as we work together to clear a new 120 million year dinosaur tracksite of dust and debris, north of Moab, Utah. Paleontologists and volunteers will be onsite cleaning the track surface, which will be 3D documented over the following days. During the work, participants will learn how paleontologists differentiate between tracks and the dinosaurs that made them, as well as the importance of protecting fossil track sites. Please join the BLM for this unique, educational opportunity. Those interested in volunteering should contact the BLM-Utah Canyon Country District paleontologist ReBecca Hunt-Foster at the BLM-Utah Moab Field Office at [email protected] or at 435-259-2179. Participants are reminded that summer temperatures in the Moab area can be extreme and should plan accordingly and bring their own water and sunscreen. Although the hike to the site is relatively short, working in the sun and heat may not be enjoyable or advisable for everyone. Although the hike is very short, and your volunteer hours can vary in duration, participants should be aware of their own skill level and health, and proceed accordingly.
