"A good life is full of failure. Like the scraps we throw on the compost heap, our inadequacies and defeats are what give our human soil character. Without them we would be barren, with nothing to offer our surrounding ecosystem. A noble life is rich in failure embraced." ~Toko-pa Turner I believe we would all be far happier if we embraced our failures and imperfections. The pursuit of perfection is an unattainable one. If we continue trying to grasp it we will forever be disappointed. When I was a ballet dancer I was haunted by the scrutiny of perfection. When I stepped into a new life, a new path, I had to unlearn perfection and embrace failure and making mistakes. Perfection keeps us from trying. Failing with grace gives us the courage to try anything. We are multi-faceted beings learning what it is to be in this experience called life. Why would we think we must do it perfectly? If we got angry at a baby every time it fell when trying to walk, that child would never walk. Our beliefs of what is possible are hugely influenced by how we react to failure, obstacles, challenge and success. And so the message comes back again; we must learn how to embrace all of who we are, unconditionally.
