A good question came into the newsroom about our poor air quality today; Is it called smog? You can call our dirty air “smog” if you want to, but traditionally, smog=smoke + fog (LA fits that definition) However, smog has come to be understood as “problematic, largely urban air pollution”….so you’re good to go with smog if you want. Or you could call it the “brown cloud”…..sort of the old-school name since….a long time. Or you could call it “smaze” smaze=smoke + haze ….be a trend setter, hashtag maker (term recognized by AMS) Or you could also call it “smust” smust=smoke + dust ….probably best description of our air this weekend…..but now we’re getting into Polar Vortex territory.
