A graduate student in the Netherlands is currently leading a project for emergency response drones that could increase the survival rate of cardiac arrest victims from 8% to over 80%. This is amazing progress in terms of drone technology and future emergency infrastructure. Check it out: youtube/watch?v=y-rEI4bezWc :D The current problem with emergency vehicles is their slow response time to accidents: For every 1 minute delay in defibrillation, the survival rate of a cardiac arrest victim decreases by 7% to 10%. The proposed solution here is to have drones which can fly a defibrillator straight to the victim, thus decreasing the wait time by several minutes. ps. Credits to Kevin Lee for the original share.
