A great FREE ride for cyclists in the Birmingham area! Group Ride: Saturday August 10th at 8:00am Location: Bessemer, park in the lot located on 1st Avenue North between 19th & 20th Streets North (Just follow the Pop-Up Project signs and you will find us!) This is a FREE event and there will be food & water for cyclists at the end of the ride. Route is about 20 miles and it is a no-drop ride. FOR OUR FAST FRIENDS: We want you to join us too! Please feel free to start earlier and go as fast as you like! Our goal is to have a strong showing of cyclists at the Pop-Up Event around 10:00am. All cyclists in the area are encouraged to join this important bike ride to support bike-friendly communities in our area. Pop-Up Project is an initiative of the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham and is designed to promote community revitalization which includes BIKE-FRIENDLY communities! Temporary bike lanes will be in place the day of the event to show people what their community could look like with bike lanes. A bike rodeo and a family-friendly ride will take place at Pop-Up Bessemer in addition to the group ride that morning. BikeLink will be on hand and in addition there will be a farmers market, art activities, Pop-Up Shops, food, music and lots of fun.
