A group of 28 attorneys general sent a letter to five national retailers advising them to quit selling cigarettes. They said it was contradictory to the retailers sale of health items. We all know cigarettes are bad for your health. But, what are they doing sending that letter? AGs are elected to enforce the laws of the state. Unless they are charging that the retailers are breaking the law, they have no purpose in that. As long as no laws are being broken, then that decision belongs with the businesses based on their understanding of what the consumer wants. The AGs need to spend their time doing what they are supposed to be doing.
