A gunman in Portland was fleeing from the scene of the crime - TopicsExpress

A gunman in Portland was fleeing from the scene of the crime earlier this week, and as he was trying to hide the gun in the front of his pants, he wound up shooting himself in the testicles. 40-year-old Joseph Johnson reportedly got into an altercation with neighbor Jordan Merrell, 32, over undisclosed property that Johnson allegedly wanted back. The argument got heated, and at one point, Johnson pulled out a gun, shot Merrell in the leg, and fled. While running, Johnson shoved the gun in his waistband but accidentally pulled the trigger and shot himself in the testicles. An officer spotted him fall on the ground while running, and he was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries before being released and taken to jail. Johnson has been charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and a firearm possession felony. Merrell was reportedly taken to the hospital with serious injuries following the shooting, but police say that they weren’t life threatening. Police discovered that the gun Johnson used was stolen back in November.
