A heartfelt and resounding congratulations goes to Myles Anevich and Markus Daly the 2015 Royal City Novice Champions!! The duo won the tournament in style. After 5 rounds of Canadian Parliamentary debate, the team went undefeated and were top team (presidents trophy) going into the break rounds (playoffs). The team continued their winning streak into the grand final where they very cleverly opposed a motion on government education incentives. After a compelling, empassioned and convincing final, against our wonderful hosts, Guelph, the team was crowned champions. Myles was recognized as Top Speaker, completing the triple crown and sending all the top awards back to the dub. This was Marks first ever debate tournamnet, his meteoric rise is nothing short of remarkable. A huge thanks goes out to Madeline Turland and her excellent club who worked hard to make every bit of the tournament fanatastic, both the brilliant Cheif Adjudicator Kathryn LeBlanc and Deputy Cheif Adjudicator Christine Bowen and, finally, our esteemed external adjudicators Lewis Fainer and Meghan T. Ackland! It was a very fun weekend ripe with captivating discourse and new friends! You are all warmly welcome to join us at upcoming meetings, we will continue to post meeting times/locations in the coming weeks!
