I am writing this letter in regard of Mopa Airport there are lot hurdles right now to scrap Mopa Airport the reason is simple our MLA’s are cheating us as well CM Mr. Parrikar manipulating the Mopa issue. We are telling or asking the present govt that – 1} Two Airport in Goa is not feasible small state (Goa) 2} Dabolim Airport won’t survive in future. 3} Navy occupied huge land and Dabolim is an civilian airport. 4} Charter Flight will land at Mopa Airport. 5} Decline in Tourism. 6} Displacing Mopa farmers. 7} Shark Real estate. Let me explain all points above which we had put on public meeting held on 15 May 2013, Lohia Maidan Margao. Why I am explaining or coming with these points because beneficiary of Mopa Airport are manipulating in tricky way including Politicians, Higher level Bureaucrats and Mopa real estate investors. 1} Two Airport is not feasible in small state like Goa Two airports is not feasible in Goa = There are Shark Real estates anxiously waiting for Mopa Airport project and National Political Party Funds which will come from this Mopa project. There are national parties (Congress, BJP and National Congress Party (Chief Sharad Pawar) are involved. so it is not a big thing to get letter from civil aviation ministry that both Airport will coexist after Mopa Airport operational. As we all know the fact that Dabolim will die its natural death in long run. Goa Only for Dabolim can answer – our stand is very clearly we don’t want Mopa Airport the reason is simple environmental disaster. 6 Lane Highway will devasted rural Goan’s life cutting off trees, land fillings , agriculture land , rivers , etc and Shark Real estate. Why only Airport at Mopa can’t be another industry with lesser land acquisitions which is barren land other side not fertile horticulture land. And why govt is acquiring 90 lahks Sq m in around Mopa for what? And for whom? Even we will oppose for Nuclear Plant too which supposed to be happen in Asnoti –Karwar where people had oppose for Nuclear Plant. Now they are looking to set their Nuclear plant in Karnataka or Maharashtra and we Goans should get ready to say NO for that Project too it will be health hazardous. And Dabolim can upgrade to Gatwick Airport so why to spend 5,000 cr when 400cr can sort out the rest of problem. And last what about development fees which will incurred from passengers. 2} Dabolim Airport won’t survive in future. BJP and Congress both are giving us assurances that after Mopa and Dabolim Airport will be operational for civilian. No clause on paper will survive in long run when Dabolim will die its natural death because Airlines will choose their own destination where to land their Aircraft obviously Mopa Airport will be much upgraded facilities ( runway , crew members, VVIP lounge ). Why Mr. Parrikar giving us false propaganda on Dabolim & Mopa airport let him show letter to public which tells the Third option that navy can vacant the land for Airport Authority of India for civilian purposes which Mr. Rane had hide the 3rd Option to Goan’s and open the door for Mopa Airport Project. 3} Navy occupied huge land and Dabolim is civilian airport. Let’s first try to scrap Mopa Airport then we can have talks on Dabolim land issue. If we try to push them out from Goa then it will be mess why? Navy file petition to Supreme Court then it will difficult for us .they will use money power as well as they will get back up from Central i.e Delhi Politician who are the beneficiary of Mopa Airport project. Or unless they get alternative land in Goa, They will never move to Kawar Seabird because Goa has better infrastructure, educations, well settle rural area and Goa is the best Tourist destination. We can only ask Navy that “let AAI handle the Airport and have full control of Dabolim Airport”. And last & lest let Goa Govt acquired more land for parking and other facilities. 4} Charter Flight will land in Mopa Airport. Mr. Parrikar, Mr.Mauvin Godhino and Mr. Francisco Sardinha are giving us false promise why there is so haste in Mopa Airport project. Till now environment clearance not done but there is rush and violating all norms still we can believe our Politicians including MLA’s who are supporting now present govt. Once Sindhudurg beaches are developed no one will interested to Goan beaches its simple line “Our Cost Sindhudurg in Profit” 5} Decline in Tourism. Congress, BJP, other Politician and Govt official say’s that Mopa airport will cater more tourism. Goa only for Dabolim can answer- we don’t want tourism like Bangkok or Dubai .Goa is known for its natural beauty. Tourist come to see natural beauty and admire our rural tourism not urban city like Dubai or Bangkok. Goa is small state can not handle extra garbage and other burden cost like water & electricity. 6} Displacing Mopa farmers. They are saying willing to give good land price for mopa farmers. Goa only for Dabolim can answer –Why the horticulture land use for other purposes when we hardly left agriculture land, let them farm by giving water and other necessity. Our late Sir Mathany Saldanha never harms the environment he always loved Goan’s nature. If Mr. Parrikar wants carry his legacy then doesn’t kill Mopa farmers help them. Right now Goa required Milk Production. The barren land can use to setup for cattle house . Why milk demand in Goa is very high if present gvt helps the Mopa people with schemes then Goans will get some relief from price of milk packets. 7} Shark Real estate. How can our Politicians and Bureaucrats control the Land sharks. Our all MLA’s are fooling us with two promises. Kindly don’t blame only BJP MLA’s why other independent MLA’s as well regional party 2 MLA’s why they giving two statements one showing support for Goa only for Dabolim at Margao Lohia Maidan on 15th May ’13. At same time Caitu say’s ‘after written assurances from central that Dabolim Airport will not closed forever’. When we said that Mopa Airport is not for us its Land scam for Shark Real estate; Are these all MLA’s are for their own wealth. We need to think and spread messages to all Goans that our elected representatives are working for Mopa beneficiaries. Here some rest political arguments recently MLA Mauvin Godinho said Dabolim will never closed for civilians and people are simply making noise for Lok Sabha elections are closed. Well we can reply to Mauvin Godinho that “we are not like him de-notifying the land of Bernard Costa and purchasing huge tact of land in around Mopa, Bicholim. Fr. Eremito Rebelo not interested in Lok Sabha elections”. MP Francisco Sardinha Said “we are monsoon frogs and I got the 500 crores from Central for Dabolim airport upgrading” let him come the fact of Dabolim parking land scam which Digamber kamat and Mauvin Godhino had done. And he should aware that we chosen him to do our work which is his duty. I like to give the name from Aviation sector 1] Mr. Vito Gomes he is Goan chairman ASM travels, He has vast experiences in Aviations. 2] Mr. R C Khurana, Former AAI Director. He clearly said that two airport in Goa is not feasible small state. 3] Mr. Raghavendra Rao, Former AAI Director. He too said that both Airports can not run at same time. And last Father Eermito all MLA’s are doing cheap politics by playing very safe on Mopa issue these south MLA’s on next assembly election will say “we had to compromise for our constituency” but the fact is that they are working for their wealth displacing own Goans from GOA land and future generations too. BJP parivartan is for their maharathi maanus and our pervious MLA became greedy for wealth and their portfolios. Let’s all get united and scrap Mopa Airport and help farmers. No need to toppled the government first scarp mopa then we have to work on special status what government is doing diverting the people’s mind with false promise of Special status when it is very difficult to get from Central ( Parliament ).
