A heavy rain Friday is to blame for several accidents on I-68. The first crash happened just before 3 pm on I-68 eastbound at Lower New Germany Road. The driver hit a puddle and hydroplaned then the vehicle went into a spin and hit a guardrail. A young girl who was sleeping in the 3rd row seat was thrown out the rear window. She was taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released. Then at about 3:40 Friday afternoon Maryland State Police were called out to I-68 eastbound at the Finzel Scale House for an accident with injuries. The driver hit a puddle of water and hydroplaned. The vehicle hit a guardrail then rolled into the westbound lanes into oncoming traffic and came to rest in the fast lane. A juvenile male was taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
