A huge congratulations to my daughters Basketball team! The core of this XCELLES team have been playing together for five seasons and have steadily moved up the rankings from near 100th to a cool 5th in the province. This weekend was the division 1 finals for the U19 Junior Womens division and they were an impressive 4-1, even knocking off the top ranked team in Ontario. This is a clear case of why we should focus on the journey our kids are on and on the long term development of our children through sport (less on the wins and losses). I used to drag her out to my Colonel By practices in the hopes that she would want to play one day but it was her friends and her coaches who got her involved and have shaped her into the player she is today. Most of these girls will still be on the squad next season and who knows what that will bring. In the mean time I cannot stress how proud I am of her... Brianna Thompson makes me smile everyday!!
