A huge well done to Firefighter Nikki Cox and Firefighter Darryl Roche, who both completed tough endurance challenges earlier this month to raise money for charities close to their hearts. Nikki ran four marathons in four weekends to raise money for Child Bereavement UK. Although suffering shin splints ahead of the final race, she refused to be defeated and battled through to finish the marathon in Amsterdam in 5 hours and 21 minutes. She said: “I appreciate there are many demands on us to donate to various charities and would like to thank everybody for their generosity in supporting my challenge and charity. You have helped me run 104.8 miles in four weekends in 20 hours, 36 minutes and, more importantly raised nearly £1500 for Child Bereavement UK.” Darryl cycled for two hours every day between June 9 and October 25 to raise money for St John’s Hospice in memory of his grandmother. He cycled close to 4,000 miles in total and smashed his fundraising target of £2000 raising £2270. He said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you, without the kind nature of my colleagues in the LFB I would never have been able to achieve this.”
