A joint meeting of senior Officers of Security Forces/Police/ Security/ Traffic/ Intelligence Agencies/Civil Administration was convened by IGP Jammu Zone, Shri Rajesh Kumar , IPS, in Police Control Room Jammu to discuss various security measures in the run up to 15th August and also to take stock of the progress of the security and other allied arrangements being made for the Independence Day celebration and for the forthcoming festivals i.e Eid-ul-Azha , Raksha Bandhan, Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra, Machail Yatra and Janamashtami. Besides detailed intelligence assessment by State and Central Intelligence Agencies, DIG JK Range Shri Shakeel A.Beig,IPS, DIG Traffic, Mr.Shafkat Watali, SSP Jammu and SSP Security gave a detailed account of the security arrangements that have been put in place in the run up to 15th August in and around Jammu City including Border areas and also spoke about the Police, Security and traffic arrangements that are being proposed to be made for Independence Day celebrations. Similarly, the concerned officers of civil administration gave a detailed account of the arrangements they have put in place for celebrations of 15th August. Detailed deliberations were held on all the points concerning parade contingents, preparation of venue, anti-sabotage checks, and repair of rounds in and around the venue, barricading, traffic arrangements in the City and at the venue, fire services, medical facilities and other contingencies for Independence Day Celebrations. Detailed instructions were issued on spot to the concerned officers for further follow up action on certain points requiring further action. IGP Jammu Mr.Rajesh Kumar , IPS, while expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements being put in place and proposed to be made, asked the officers to work in close coordination with each other for greater synergy as the goal is common. He asked the Intelligence Agencies, Police and SFs Officers to step up vigil and security in the District right from now onwards to check any attempt of infiltration, movement of anti-national elements and forestall any ill-conceived plan of terrorists. A detailed review of the prevailing security scenario, throughout Jammu zone, was taken . The intelligence agencies also give their assessments about the prevailing situation. The meeting was attended by Mr.Shafkat Watali DIG, Traffic, Jammu, Mr. Shakeel.A.Beig ,DIG ,JKS Range, Jammu, Mr. Johny William DIG AP, Jammu, , S. Manmohan Singh, SSP Traffic ,Jammu, Mr. J.L.Sharma, SSP,CID,SB,Jamm u, Mr Nisar Ahmed , SSP ,Crime, Jammu, Mr. Atul Goel , SSP Jammu, Mr. R.K.Chalotra, SSP Security Jammu, Mr. Vijay Kumar, SSP PCR ,Jammu, S. Bopinder Singh SSP , Telecom, Jammu, Mr. Isrrar Kahn, SSP Samba , Mr . Mubasir Latief, SP Rajouri, Mr.Sham Sunder , SSP APCR Jammu, representatives ’ from 16 core , 26 Div. and BSF , besides, Zonal SP’s of district Jammu also participated in the meeting. Later, IGP Jammu interacted with all district SSsP which include SP Kishtwar, Kathua, Poonch ,Udhampur ,Ramban and Doda through Video Conferencing and reviewed their preparedness in the run up and for 15th August ,celebration. Detailed instructions were given to strengthen the security grid in the back drop of assessment obtained from the intelligence agencies.
