Leaving the rehashing of the 303 acid sound to others, the new Phuture came up with something different, a rumbling, deep bassline overlaid with a wicked dubbed out synth riff and topped off by a snip of classic Chicago piano, a formula that hit its apogee in Pierre’s Wild Pitch Mix. Too strong for much of Strictly’s more garage-leaning fanbase at the time, ‘Rise From Your Grave’ stands up today as one of the most modern sounding tracks in the entire catalogue. #classic
