A king and leader can not rule effectively and with excellence without the favor of God or walking in obedience with God!!! God was with Joseph and Pharoah himself saw the excellency of the Spirit of God in him! Because Joseph loved God and faithfully served Him even after he was elevated to 2nd greatest ruler in Egypt, God saved the city because of him!!! David had the Spirit of God all in Him and with Him! God chose David when he was just a shepherd boy and his love for God was so intense and serious that when he messed up with God, he laid before Him in sackcloth and ashes repenting and seeking forgiveness of God! David had a genuine love for Gods ppl and he didnt abuse his authority in killing and slaying Gods ppl! He was a fierce warrior, but a gentle and compassionate king! It was king David who remembered his love for and friendship with Jonathan when he invited Mephibosheth, Jonathans crippled son to eat forever at the kings table! King Saul was not chosen of God and walked in the error of his flesh without regard for the ppls feelings or lives! He threatened the lives of priests when hunting for David to kill him! Saul made oaths that were damnable almost causing his own son, Jonathan to be killed! Saul was disobedient and disrespectful to God several times and felt justified!!! He had no repentance or sorrow in his heart for his actions! He wanted to kill David because he was jealous of what God was doing in his life! Saul pretended to still be king over Israel all the way til his death though God had already stripped him! Saul sought witches to hear a word from God! Who are we seeking to hear a word from God? Are we like King Saul who appear before all as this great for fire head, when in fact we are playing a role that we once occupied in God?! Are we like King David who repents and seeks a clean heart and renewed mind daily from The Lord?! Do we humble ourselves before God and walk in love with all?! Or are we like arrogant King Saul who used his power to get what he wanted even when it wasnt in Gods will?! What kind of leaders are we? Yes, King David committed sins against God but he repented and humbled himself before God on his face!!! King Saul sinned against God over and over and only said that he sinned against God, but was not godly sorrowful because change had not taken place in his heart! David loved God with all of his heart, mind, and soul! David was a praiser and worshipper of God no matter where he was! King David knew how to pray and touch the heart of God! He always sought The Lord before any battle! He acknowledged God even when he had the opportunity to kill Saul, his enemy! King David still loved Saul even though he knew Saul wanted to kill him! Saul was wicked and would not have hesitated in killing Gods anointed!!! David let the Spirit of God lead him, while Saul let his flesh lead him to destruction and death!!! Even as both kings were dying, David still gave praise and honor to God, while Saul stayed bitter, unrepentant, and disconnected from God! Sauls last deed before death was letting the witch of Endor bring up Prophet Samuels spirit for a word from God! He got a word from God, but it wasnt what he wanted to hear!!! Repent and turn back to Jesus!! Jesus reigns forever and ever!!!
