A large sign on Poplar is generating interest for my 8 year old. Coming on October 18th is an Exhibit at the Brooks Museum entitled, Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt. Near the real and ancient Memphis in Egypt thousands of animal mummies have been discovered of ibises, jackals, crocodiles, baboons, and shrews. It is unclear, as with modern Memphis, if this was the also the political leadership that they had in 500 B.C. They promise an interactive exhibit for children-- whatever that may entail. Regardless of the outcome our house cat is not enthusiastic about being a mummy for Halloween. As to our politicians, I wish we had a few more shrews and a lot fewer jackals.
