A lawyer opened the door of his BMW on a busy street when suddenly - TopicsExpress

A lawyer opened the door of his BMW on a busy street when suddenly another car came along and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived at the scene of the accident, the lawyer was complaining bitterly about the damage to his precious BMW. Officer, look what theyve done to my Beeeeemer! he whined. You lawyers are so materialistic - you make me sick! retorted the officer. You are so worried about your stupid BMW, that you didnt even notice that your left arm was ripped off! Oh! My gaaawd!!! cried the lawyer, finally noticing the bloody left shoulder where his arm used to be. Wheres my Rolex?! Our perceptions of problems are not always the same as other peoples. Especially lawyers?!!! Lawyers are good at turning other peoples needs and problems into opportunities. But, very often, they have the priorities of their problems all screwed up. That lawyer with a ripped off BMW door and a ripped off arm should be thinking - now, this is a multimillion dollar claim even at 50% contributory negligence on my part!! That would make him smile at the opportunity instead of whine about his problems. Two sides of the same coin. But the teachings are - First, turn problems, especially other peoples problems, into your opportunities; Second, prioritize your problems and tackle them one by one according to their importance and urgency; and Third, always remember that if its a problem, you can solve it because if it cannot be solved, it should be discarded and will not be a problem anymore!! As the Chinese are fond of saying - wen di bu da, da te bu shi wen di - the problem is not big, the big is not a problem. Thats my interpretation anyway.
