A lesson in abuse of power and being baited by cops for tickets: - TopicsExpress

A lesson in abuse of power and being baited by cops for tickets: last month I attempted to drive home in Hoboken, somewhere around midnight on a Sat. I drove up Patterson to take the back roads and two police cars sideways-blocked the road. A line of cars were soon waived around them, then looped around so as not to take Patterson. I was a little confused but headed northbound on Washington instead, which was (par for Saturday) packed. A cop in front of me, suddenly pulled slightly over (double park style) and sat, no blinker no lights. I wondered what was going on with all these cops, must be something, what an odd night. I sat behind him for about two minutes motioning in my mirror, waving, anxious while people laid on their horns behind me. What am I supposed to do here? What is he doing? After two minutes and blaring, impatient NJ traffic, I slowly creeped by him assuming he wanted me to go around. As I passed, I basically sign languaged the question, Go around? Next thing I know, he pulls me over and hits me with a four point improper passing violation. One that he essentially entrapped me for. I hired an attorney who spoke to the prosecutor last night and the best they could do, was plea it down to no points, tons of money and a guilty plea. I crossed out their plea bargain and said Ill be damned before pleading guilty to something I didnt do. So, onto trial we go. I am risking a license suspension if I lose in trial and if it means never driving again and costs me every penny I have, what happened that night is disgusting. A cop is there to give citizens direction and help. Too many people get mired down by inconvenience and simply pay tickets because they dont want the hassle. Not this kid. See you in court officer. And dont worry, I will be writing your bait and switch story in the mean time. #Hoboken #policebait
