A letter to the editor at Sauk Valley Media by Dixon resident Randy Hardin....."It would nice to see the other shoe fall in the Rita Crundwell case. What a deal she got. If I was to go out, rob several area banks, then get caught for speeding; at my speeding trial I’d plead guilty to bank robbery and all I could get convicted and sentenced for would be speeding. Then I’d have the gall to appeal the speeding penalty as too harsh. Ms. Crundwell’s lone charge was insignificant compared with what she took. Because she’s guilty on only one charge, she’s looking to shorten her sentence, get out and continue her lifestyle with the other three-fourths of the money she stole and has never been recovered. Mr. Dixon wasn’t re-elected as state’s attorney because many apparently thought he didn’t do enough to pursue this case. Ms. Sacco-Miller, what are you doing? Who collected the mail when Rita was on vacation? Why has this person not been identified and charged as an accessory to the crimes? Who at the bank looked the other way when all these checks, which experts say should have been red flags, were being cashed? Why aren’t they being investigated? The city has two outstanding loans owed to it. The city isn’t a banking institution. All financial dealings with the city are public record. How much owed by the Ortgiesen and Shipman families is outstanding? What’s the interest rate? How many payments are owed? Have they been making payments? As a citizen/taxpayer of Dixon, I’m a lien holder. I’d like to know my debtors’ status. What’s Mr. Ortgiesen’s income source now, and has he been making payments? As a lender, I’d like to know. Many are waiting for the other shoe or shoes to fall. Hopefully our elected officials will do their jobs for the citizens."
