A lil Saturday morning chuckle... a 911 wildlife call, from the FWC blotter: Officer Lilley was dispatched to a 911 call that came in through the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office and then to FWC dispatch. The caller advised that he had an unknown species of snake crawl up his leg, around his neck and then wrapped around his arm and would not let go. The caller advised that he was home alone and that he had the snake by the neck and was afraid that it would bite him. Officer Lilley responded to the call in emergency mode and upon arriving on scene observed a white male standing in the driveway with a cardboard box at his feet. Officer Lilley took the box and emptied the snake into his cooler where he observed a yellow rat snake, which is non-venomous. Officer Lilley asked the subject if he was okay and he said he was. --- Officer Lilley then got the subject’s information and dispatch reported a local active warrant for the arrest of the subject. Officer Lilley placed the subject into handcuffs and transported him to the Hendry County Jail where he was booked for the Criminal Mischief warrant. The snake was also released back into the environment without incident. :) Good Job, score one for the snake!
