A little check in for Chrissy on call. A most perfect bedtime and I couldnt be more literal. After a great swim lesson I took them, to Chick Fil A and they did great at dinner and in the play area. So when we came home they got a bit of Gelati Celesti ice cream cake and were just so pleased. Jack, in his high chair, was clearly tired and grabbed my hand and wrapped both arms around my forearm and held me in a hug with his face pressed against my hand for 2 minutes or so. Just so sweet. Perfect little angels headed upstairs, into P.J.s washed face and hands and both did a great job with brushing their teeth (at this time I started bracing for the all powerful other shoe to fall). We all went into Ellies room to read two books and Jack just happily plopped right next to her and very quickly pulled the blankets up over his legs and belly with a very self satisfied and giddy grin on his mug. We read the books with out incident, put them away, turned the light out and Ellie said come on Jack. Say prayers with us. as she and I knelt at her bedside. He squeezed right in between us, dropped way down to his knees (hes so tiny, and kneeling almost requires a magnifying glass to see him), folded his little hands and put them under his chin then looked up at me with those huge eyes and that sparkling blonde hair - it looked like a precious moments figurine, and I normally think those things are pukey sweet, but man did I just love that moment. Then both actually went down without a peep. I mean the only thing Jack said when I put him in his crib was Meoww meow when he put his head on his pillow grabbing his tiny satiny blanky thing with a zebra stuffed animal sewn onto it - still grinning as if this was just a deliciously awesome moment that pleased him to his core. My energy with them was really great tonight. I was totally all in with no distractions and thinking how awesomely fortunate I am to have these awesome experiences and this awesome life dedicated to my awesome wife and these awesome kids. Awesome. Seriously though. Absolutely, and completely seriously.
