A little history irony .... the Western Powers ( England, France ) declared war on Germany when Germany invaded Poland. When the war ended, the Western Powers ( England, France, the United States) essentially ceded Poland to the Soviet Union, thereby agreeing for the Poles to be subjects of Russia until they (Lech Walensa and the unions) threw off the Communist garb by themselves .... so, the West went to war for Poland, but gave it up for free when the war was over.
