A little late but I wanted to send another Thank YOU to all of you who mailed birthday cards for Trent (and myself). I was able to fill his window, his board and many other spots in his room :) . As far as an update on his GVHD as I mentioned he started on a new treatment called ECP and we have been at it for about 5 weeks.....They will continue on with this for at least another 3 weeks but possibly 7. At that point they will evaluate and decide our next step. The focus right now is strength and independence with a goal to get Trent to the Rehab wing and then hopefully back home with me and the pups. The difficulty with Transplants is that when problems occur there is no clear way to treat things however without the transplant the leukemia would have been terminal so now we have to be content with the fact that the leukemia is gone. The process is slow and with no guarantees of success but a Trooper Trent remains. If anything I hope that it teaches all of us to never take any moments for granite...I love that until he got sick we lived life to the fullest and after this momentary detour we will go right back to enjoying every moment of every day. But for now I hope that you tell your friends and family more often how much you love them... spend more quality time with the people who make you happy, enjoy the simple things like taking a walk outside or going to a movie....I know Trent would give anything to walk his dogs or go out to a restaurant...work at his ski shop...all the things we see as tasks. Life can be stolen at any moment so Fight Club I hope that you cherish each and every day you wake up and get another chance to do something extraordinary!
