A little over a year ago Helen Crofts was hobbling around on crutches. In a few hours she, along with her Simon Fraser teammate, Jessica Smith, races in the 800 final at the FISU Games. After an emotionally and physically challenging rehab she began getting back to training in the fall. Among her accomplishments since then are NCAA Div. II championships in the 800, both indoors and outdoors. She was named the outstanding student-athlete by her conference, earning a nomination for the national award. She carried a 4.0+ GPA in Biological Studies. I am sure that everyone will join me in wishing both of these young ladies the best of success today.
