A little over a year ago, we took these four portraits of four - TopicsExpress

A little over a year ago, we took these four portraits of four people who at this point are almost strangers to ourselves. This was us, when all we had was a van, an idea, and an incredible drive towards the future. In what has inconceivably been only one years time, those four people have transformed into who we are today, and though we may look just about the same on the outside, our hearts and minds have been colored and uplifted, bruised and beaten, but more than anything else they have grown in size to welcome in the worlds beyond our own, the cultures that were on the periphery of our imagination, and the countless people that have all become a part of our amazing journey. One thing is certain for us, things have permanently changed. And so we find ourselves here, today, a year from the conception of our wildest dream, living proof that they were achievable. And as half of the group departs us today, it is not with sadness that we bid goodbye, but rather an excitement for the forthcoming adventures that will undoubtedly be a part of all four of our lives wherever we turn. We caught the bug now, and theres no turning our backs on exploration at this point. This is not the end of Vanajeros, this is just the end of the first chapter. As we crack the spine of chapter two, an exciting, new, and wholly unknown journey, we know now that if we could leave you with any one piece of wisdom, it would be this: Get up. Change. Move. Whether its a block down the street, or to an entirely new region of the world, never doubt your ability to adapt and to make sense of something that may momentarily go beyond the scope of your imagination. Nothing is out of reach, and though the first step may be the hardest one to take, the rest get easier as you go, and once youve got momentum at your back, theres no stopping. Because the scope of your hearts and minds are limitless. They will never stop growing, their doors will never cease to open. All you have to do is be willing to allow the growth. To be willing to keep those doors always and forever unlocked. Then let the world do the rest. For now, we will be going our separate ways as a group, but I think we all know that eventually we will be back together again, whether it be in a van, in the endless beaches of Mexico, the towering mountains of Colombia, or the volcanic lakes of Guatemala, we are a family and eventually we will find our way back to the same place. And we hope that well see some of you along the way. With nothing but love and gratitude, Joel, Madison, Parker, and Aidan The Vanajeros
